The winter schedule of Wednesday competitions is here and the results table is here. The winter swindle handicaps are here. After each individual Stableford, the swindle handicap will be adjusted for the first three places, details how this is done are here.
We are now going to use IG more extensively to enter the weekly Wednesday competitions. Full details are here.
Each week, we seniors normally play on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Wednesdays are allocated to the various different competitions. Friday is for the informal roll-ups and Monday should be for pairs and Crystal. Pairs on Wednesdays is not to be encouraged. When you want to book a pairs match on Monday, before you book the tee time slot, you should select just one of the pairs you have not played and e-mail them rather than all the seniors.
Christmas Meal, Friday 16/12/22 We held our first post Covid Christmas Dinner for the Lutterworth Seniors in the temporary Clubhouse, and what a good venue it was for the fifty people that attended. A barrel of real ale was put on by Abbi (tried some myself), and background music was provided by Ian Morris.
It was so nice to see so many partners there supporting the senior golfers (with sticks and crutches....). And thank you to Norman who worked to handle all of the financing and payment for the event. Dennis K, who had organised the whole event, did a welcome in the style of an aircraft attendant. That was a laugh. Well done Dennis.
A three course dinner was served, followed by coffee by the hard working staff. Thank you to Abbi, Rob and the kitchen staff for doing it so well. After dinner we sang Twelve Days of Christmas, led by Dennis, where each table had a part to play with each verse being sung standing up, so some tables were up and down many times. It was well enjoyed.
Then we had a music of the 60's/70's quiz, MC'd by Dennis which everyone participated in. The winners were Table 1, led by (appropriately} Phil Partridge, who received Cava as prizes, donated by Sarb M. Thank you Sarb, nice touch.
There will be some photos on the Seniors Web Site soon for you all to look at.
Thank you all who attended, a memorable evening, By ten o'clock everyone decided it was bed time and went home happy, even Bob G.
Pairs 14/12/22 Although below freezing and the bounce and greens were unpredictable, 30 people played and used the Clubhouse. Well Done !! Two teams scored 44 points, with the winners being Peter Maddock and Alan Harris on countback. Has Peter got his MoJo back ? Can he repeat the performance next week ?? Four clubs & a putter, 16/11/22 The Winners spreadsheet on the Seniors web is also updated. The weather was good while we played, and the course had drained well after yesterday's perpetual precipitation. The Halfway House was open and home made soup was on offer.
Next week is a Pairs Greensomes, sign up on ig.
AGM and play 2/11/22 Forty people in total signed up for the day on ig using the new RollUp facility the Club has created for us. The results can be found on the Lutterworth Seniors web site (search 'Lutterworth Seniors'). The day was preceded by our AGM, the minutes are here. There was an issue with some slow play, mostly to do with leaves on the course and this is being addressed. Many thanks to those that attended.
Crystal first round 26/10/22 Our first round of the Crystal Singles took place and twenty people took place. some matches are still outstanding but will be completed soon. Results are on the Seniors web under Crystal. Another sixteen people played in a Stableford as a separate comp.
Winning Stableford team was Chris Wells and Ian Ward.
End of Season 5/10/22 This year 11 groups went out into horrendous weather with at one stage, biblical rain and high winds. Nevertheless, most groups did complete the full 18 holes with less challenging weather by the close. Barry Galpin kindly came in to make the presentations although due to injury, he was nor able to play with us, lucky there. We did have to modify the nearest the pin prizes to nearest the green ! ! The results were :-
Nearest the green hole 9 Rob Poole, 2 sleeves of balls Nearest the green hole 15 Ray Walsh and Dennis Kirk get 1 sleeve each Longest drive hole 7 Gavin LeChat, 2 sleeves Third overall Steve Thorpe, 35 16 back 9, voucher Second overall Sarb Matharu, 35 17 back 9, voucher First overall Malcolm Porter, 36, voucher and Pat McIlvenny trophy
The overall winner do get thier swindle handicaps reduced. Tony Brader then presented Bob Howes, the captain for the past two year, with a commemorative tankard. He then announced that Ray Walsh will be his vice captain for the next year. The photos are here.
